Family Worship

We have been incorporating family worship into our house now for a couple of weeks. My church had a parenting conference by Voddie Baucham (which I wasn't able to attend). But my good friend Amber went and told me all about it! I am so thankful she did! He talks a lot about how important family worship is in your house and to enforce what your church is teaching your children. So (almost) each night Taylor leads our family worship which includes a lesson from a children's devotional, talking about what was being taught at Sunday school that week and practicing catechisms. Catechisms are a summary of the principles of Christian religion in the form of questions and answers, used for the instruction of Christians. The format we have been using you can find here. It is grouped by age and has about 100 questions. It is basically instilling biblical truths in our children so when they grow up and are asked about faith they know how to answer those questions. We usually add one new question every few days. If the kids do not know what the answer means we will look up the scripture provided, read that, and explain it. Taylor usually leads our family worship but he was out of town in this video and it is the kids doing their catechisms. It takes about 10-15 minutes each night before bedtime. Even Rainey Grace has learned so much and Terry asks about doing them every night! I am loving seeing this love and excitement of learning about Christ! If you would like to learn more about family worship here is Voddie's book! I have not read it but hope to get it for Mother's Day. I hope this can help anyone that is interested!
