Terry Douglas turned 5 this past June! His birthday was June 3rd and we had a fun party a few days later. Before that we celebrated with family at Aunt Di's house for Terry and Rainey Grace's birthdays which was a lot of fun. On the day of his birthday I made him a birthday breakfast of his choice of pancakes with sprinkles:) We decorated the stairs with balloons and put them all over the floor of his room while he was sleeping. He was so surprised and thought it was so cool when he woke up that morning. For lunch we went to McDonalds, again his choice:) He also had a birthday party of one of his best buddies from school, Porter. So we went to that for a little while then he had a baseball game and he played great! We ended up staying and eating hotdogs at the ballfield while watching some of the older boys play. It was a wonderful day!
He wanted to have his birthday party at the Gold's Gym pool. So we invited all of his friends and we were so lucky that almost everyone could come celebrate. AND the weather held out for us and it was so perfect! The kids had a blast swimming, sliding, eating cupcakes, laughing, and just having fun. Terry was so busy with his friends and had such a great time. It was a very memorable party!
I cant believe my first born son is five years old and getting ready to start Kindergarten in about a month! I am such a proud mommy! Terry is a sweet, caring, smart and fun little boy. He definetely has his moments where he has attitude and wants to be in charge...a typical 5 year old I think. Right now he loves playing Batman, dress-up, legos, guess who, trouble, ninjas, cowboys, hide n seek and wii dance. His favorite books are Frog and Toad are Friends and we have started some chapter books that we read each night and right now we are reading Treasure Island. He recently found one of our old gameboys and really likes to play Mario Brothers. He loves to sing his songs from bible school and likes to practice his core word flashcards. He knows probably 10 of these words and we just added a few more.
Terry just had his first real sleepover at Caleb's house for his birthday. I was a little worried I might get a call from Kim around bedtime but he was totally fine! He didnt even want to come home and was so excited and told everyone he stayed up "past midnight"!
This summer Terry participated in pee wee baseball and had a great time. He surprised us with being able to hit the ball off the pitching machine and he had fun meeting new friends.
He is doing great in the water and can swim pretty well. He can do forward and back flips underwater, cannon balls, belly flops, and tries to do handstands.
I am just so amazed at him every day! He is truly my "baby boy" and always will be:) I am so thankful that we were blessed with his life and to be his parents. Love you Terry D!!!
